We rented a SOT and enjoyed some time on Okanagan Lake.

I spend my free time kayaking on Okanagan Lake in British Columbia. In this picture my youngest son.

May 17th 2008 32c today! Temperature hit 32 today beautiful day in the Okanagan. Took my sister Lori and my wife's uncle Jim out on the lake to 4mile point and back. Going out was great but coming back hit a head wind that dropped our speed from 6kmh to 2kmh. was quite a battle to keep going forward. what should have took 45 minutes took almost 2 hrs. LOL we had fun but uncle Jim got a bit cold, he is 70yrs.

Windy and thundershowers the past two days but very warm and sunny in between. Good for sailing but, I stay off the water with lighting about. Cheers Greg

Guy Nice photos and looks like there could be some good climbing in that neck of the woods. Nude climbing right up yor alley. A couple of years ago the Magazine for the North called "Up Here" did an arctile on a nude hiker in Whitehorse and the negative response was unbelieveable. They had a picture of him on the cover taken from a good distance ,nothing to get upset about and many folks complained. Now I could see if the pictures was all dick and hiking poles but there was nothing on the cover worth complaining about. I sent a copy to a friend in Ontario that runs a Naturalist camp and she got quite a kick out of the whole deal. Nice photos spread and keep them coming cheers Greg

Thanks, have to get a better waterproof camera though.

That would be a great spot for some nude hiking!
That's funny. I have the same issue (Up here mag) Great article and I didn't find the photo offensive at all. It was all done. I thought, in good taste, People don't seem to have a problem with putting a nude pic of a child's back end on/in a mag but if it is an adult they get weird about it. Kind of gymnophobic wouldn't you say?

The below is for those inquiring minds Gymnophobia:
An abnormal and persistent fear of nudity. Sufferers of this phobia experience undue anxiety even though they realize their fear is irrational. They may worry about seeing others naked or being seen naked, or both. Their fear may stem from anxiety about sexuality in general, from a fear that their bodies are physically inferior, or from a fear that their nakedness leaves their bodies--and their personalities--exposed and unprotected.

"Gymnophobia" is derived from the Greek "gymnos" (naked) and "phobos" (fear). The word "gymnasium" comes from the Greek "gymnasion" (a place for athletic exercises) and the Greek "gymnasein" (to train naked).

I thought exactly the same way, the picture and story were both good. Some folks should get a life, Cheers Greg

To readers wondering what we are talking about. It was the August 2006 issue "up here" magazine page 52 article titled "Welcome to Bare Country" by Tim Querengesser.

Greg, it's funny you mentioned that article and that is the only issue I have of the magazine and to top it off I don't remember ever purchasing the magazine.

Hiking without clothing is a freeing experience for sure.

:)

Some things are just meant to be and books usually end up where they belong. Slainte, Greg
