"SPOT" / "Find Me Spot?"

I am considering getting a Spot device but don't know if it is really what I want. It would be nice to be able to view someones expedition on the Google Map (as they advertise it is possible) to see if it is really what I want.

Is there a way to view the Google Map or a link of someones expedition in progress before I purchase a Spot device?

It sounds like a great idea.
