Sailing season is closing fast in the Knife my friends. The sailboats have pulled out or most of them which means lots of room for us. Cheers, Greg

Greetings from the big smoke I arrived in Edmonton this evening and will be here until thursday evening when I will return to Knife. Sounds like the makings of a new soap opera . Make the most of your time on the water my friends as we will lose her quicker than we like. Greg

Just send a sail to Calgary and they will be test running the sail in Kelona this week end. Maybe we will have another member which is always nice. I have been to busy to sail lately which is to bad as the winds are very good the past few days. Hope this finds all my fellow Tundrasailors doing well and getting the most out of their boating season. Thar she Blows. Greg Also had an inquery from Nova Scotia today as well.

One of the problems with the Pacific Action Sail is that if it is used in a two seater kayak like a Klepper when the sail is pulled down it would , in my opinion cause problems for the person in the front seat if it is occupied. So i had a spare piece of 3/8 ply and made a mount that clamps to the coaming with the sail at the side and not on the centre line of the boat. I have tried it and it works, when the sail is pulled down it lies along the side of the coaming out of the way. What i noted was that the 3/8 ply was bending so thicker ply , say 3/4 would be better, it works good at going down wind and if used in a reach where one of the "masts" is pulled back the person in the back seat with the control lines has to watch he dosn,t hit the person in the front. Also i used a larger home made lee board positioned between the seats and i seemed to get better up wind performance, i have to try this a few times to be sure and that it,s not an illusion. I will add photos.

Hoping to see klaus from Calgery here soon as he just bought a Tundrasail. a 2.2 meter sail and is planning a Carribbean Island hopping expedtion this coming winter. Sounds like a fine plan to me.

Good to hear the WIND PADDLE seems OK, hope they sell well. A nice sunny day here and i am hoping to try the Klepper down wind sail called the "Free Wind", Klepper say use half your paddle as the top top section of the mast and supply a harness for this, but you will probably need your paddle, unless you have spares, so i made a top part of the mast from some "dowel i had been given and made it so i could lower the sail from the back seat and stow it, something i think important. I also rigged it so i can make it "billow out like a spinnaker". I want to compare this Klepper sail to the Pacific Action. Now for some wind, right now there is none. I will add a photo on my page
